DrawingsHappy 14th birthday, DeviantART! Oh, this website has done so much for me.
When I first made this account, I wasn't particularly one of the most intellectual nor greatest of people [The way in which I would socially interact was rather clumsy, in the sense that what I would say would most likely sound unintentionally rude, or simply worded in a lazy way. My lexical choice used to be terrible.] And what happened was, the wonderful people who I've had the utmost pleasure to become acquainted with on this website, had actually taught me how to become a better person overall. Surprisingly, one simple action is the reason why I made this DA account, and it changed my life. At school, the library had a book on the shelves called 'Varjak Paw', and I suppose you could say that this book was somewhat reminiscent of the concept of Warrior Cats, and of course, since it was about cats I contemplated on reading it. At first, I wasn't keen, but eventually I decided upon reading it, and I absolutely fell in love with the entire concept. So, I eventually ended up browsing YouTube videos involving speedpaints of the characters from the novel, or even some people attempting to voice act for various roles as contribution to digitally animated projects. When browsing the speedpaints and such, that was when I came across videos which actually mentioned 'fursonas' people had created. I was curious about it, and eventually wanted to make one of my own. Creating a DA, I decided that I'd name my character 'Katzuki', simply off the top of my head. Just added 'My' in front of it to make it more personal, I suppose? c:
So, I set about designing my fursona/main character, and this was the first ever drawing I had uploaded to this account, said drawing being the design of Katzuki:
rooklinqs is a fellow Deviant, now my best friend/moirail, who I met not too long after joining. We began to RP; me as Katzuki, her as Rookfeather. I was a terrible writer at the time, but Rooks... Goodness me, she's absolutely fantastic - both then and now. She's pretty much the reason as to why my literary skills improved. I was absolutely terrible with even basic grammar and punctuation. Ugh, it's embarrassing to think about. Either way, I learned a lot from her, and she's essentially the reason why I write the way I do today. I've still got a long way to go, but I'm appreciative of the inspiration. c: Not only that, but I inherited some of my manners from Rook as well. I learned to be a much more polite, considerate, articulate person because of her. She is a good influence on me, she makes me happy, keeps me sane, teaches me the positives of life. I'm so grateful to have her. Not only that, but I met most of my other great friends through
rooklinqs.

Skylar-The-Cat and Cookie being the absolutely amazing artists/friends/people that I've been acquainted with because of this lovely girl!
All of my other friends who have been listed there are brilliant, talented, gorgeous, considerate, creative people and I am so lucky to have come across them throughout my DeviantART journey. You guys mean the world to me, and you all have my thanks for being such amazing friends!
Another little thing I've learned and find quite fun is how to make commentary on another's artwork. I used to just leave simple, or rather half-hearted comments around the time when I first joined DA, or I'd even fave and run on quite common occasions. But now, I try my very best to comment on every piece I fave, and I always try to ensure that the feedback is helpful and puts a smile on the artist's face! They tried hard, they deserve to be given some praise. ^_^
Art-wise, oh goodness me... This is another old drawing I produced of a feline character quite some time ago
And when I compare it to my most recent artwork involving a feline
I am actually quite pleased with my improvement. [This second piece is still quite old, as I've been taking a long time to upload any artwork at all].
Then I did my first cosplay on my 15th birthday this year, spamming my wonderful watchers with quite a lot of pictures I had taken. lD I've got to say, a lot of cosplayers found on DA were what gave me such inspiration, and taking ideas from their creative pictures gave me a sense of confidence when posing for my own. I'd used to be too shy to even have an average picture taken of me, so I was quite surprise that I had successfully mustered the courage to mimic the roll of a character.
It was a lot of fun! I'm most definitely excited to cosplay more, and I was especially inspired to continue due to some incredibly sweet feedback I had received from you guys.
I am now gradually moving into the field of drawing humanoids, and I must say, I'm quite pleased with how that's going so far:
All in all, I'd say I'm quite happy with how my experience of DA has turned out, and I'm looking forward to see what awaits in the future.
Thank you to all my friends and watchers for supporting me on the way. c:
I love this website.
